Berlin Native Returns to Hometown Club

Hertha BSC Midfielder to End Career at Season's End

Former Ghanaian international Kevin-Prince Boateng has announced that he will retire from professional football at the end of the 2022-23 season. The 35-year-old midfielder, who is currently playing for his hometown club Hertha Berlin, made the announcement via social media on Thursday.

Boateng began his career with Hertha BSC in 2006 and has since played for clubs in England, Italy, Spain, and Turkey. He has won league titles in Germany, Italy, and Turkey, as well as the UEFA Champions League with Bayern Munich in 2013.

Boateng has also represented Ghana at the international level, playing in two FIFA World Cups and three Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. He is the son of former Ghanaian international Prince Boateng and the half-brother of Bayern Munich defender Jérôme Boateng.

In a statement released on Thursday, Boateng said that he had made the decision to retire after "careful consideration." He thanked his family, friends, teammates, and fans for their support throughout his career.

Boateng's retirement will mark the end of a successful 17-year career at the highest level of football. He will be remembered as one of the most talented and versatile midfielders of his generation.
