The 2016 California Primary Election is underway, and the results are starting to come in. Follow our live results and maps to see how the candidates are doing in your state, county, and district.

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. PT. Voters can cast their ballots at any of the state's 31,000 polling places.

The primary election is the first step in the process of choosing the Democratic and Republican nominees for president. The top two finishers in each party's primary will advance to the general election in November.
