Blue Adams enters his second season as Michigan State's defensive backs coach

EAST LANSING — Michigan State football defensive backs coach Blue Adams spoke to the media on Monday ahead of the Spartans' season-opening game against Western Michigan on Friday. Adams is entering his second season as Michigan State's defensive backs coach. He was previously the defensive backs coach at Louisiana-Lafayette from 2018-21. Adams said he is excited for the start of the season and that he believes the Spartans have a talented group of defensive backs. "I think we have a really good group of guys," Adams said. "They're all hard workers and they're all eager to learn. We have a lot of experience in the secondary, so I think we can be really good." Adams said he is looking for his defensive backs to be physical and aggressive. "I want them to be physical and I want them to be aggressive," Adams said. "I want them to be confident in their abilities and I want them to play with passion." Adams said he is confident in his defensive backs' ability to make plays. "I think we have a lot of guys who can make plays," Adams said. "I'm excited to see what they can do this season." Michigan State will open the season against Western Michigan on Friday at Spartan Stadium. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
