Nike CEO John Donahoe to Step Down
The sportswear giant’s current president and CEO, John Donahoe, will step down from his role in 2023.
Donahoe, who has led Nike since 2020, will be succeeded by current COO, Matt Friend. Friend has been with Nike for over two decades and has held various leadership positions within the company.
In a statement, Nike said that Donahoe’s decision to step down was “part of a long-planned succession process.” The company also said that Donahoe will remain on Nike’s board of directors.
Donahoe’s Legacy at Nike
Donahoe joined Nike in 2014 as president and CEO of Nike Brand. He was promoted to CEO of the entire company in 2020.
During his time at Nike, Donahoe has overseen a number of significant changes, including the launch of new products, the expansion of the company’s e-commerce business, and the acquisition of several other companies.
